• Provide an environment for open exchange of precompetitive information among academic and industry representatives on recent technical developments and future industry needs/opportunities
• Promote exploratory and applied research on innovative and commercially viable processes and products for more effective utilization of plant biomass resources
• Identify and prioritize sponsored research projects based upon the needs of member companies
• Provide financial support for high priority research and key basic technology projects
• Provide technical, industrial and economic guidance to principal investigators and graduate students
• Transfer promising technology to member companies for commercial implementation
